How to Find Business Leads on Google Maps (Without Scraping)
By the auton8n team · Updated 8 October 2026
Short answer: search Google Maps data for a business type in a city (for example "CA firms in Ahmedabad"), collect each business's phone, website and email, filter out the weak ones, then save them as tagged leads and follow up. The auton8n Google Maps lead finder does this with Google's official Places API, so you do not need a scraper or a Chrome extension.
Why Google Maps is a good lead source
Almost every local business in India, from clinics and coaching institutes to builders and manufacturers, keeps a Google Business Profile with its phone number, website, address and reviews. For anyone selling to businesses, it is the most complete, up-to-date local directory there is.
Step 1: Pick a niche and a city
Be specific. "Dental clinics in Pune" gives better leads than "doctors in Maharashtra". Run separate searches for nearby areas or other cities to grow the list.
Step 2: Search and review the results
In auton8n, open Lead Generation, then Google Maps Leads, and enter the business type and city. Each result shows the name, address, phone, website, Google rating and review count. Where the business has a website, auton8n looks for a public contact email on it.
Step 3: Filter and remove duplicates
- Keep only businesses with a phone number, email or website
- Set a minimum Google rating to focus on established businesses
- Search inside the results for a word such as a locality
Businesses already in your contacts are hidden automatically, and auton8n fetches more results to fill the list.
Step 4: Save or export
Save the leads you pick as contacts with a tag, such as "Pune dentists - Oct", or download them as an Excel or CSV file for your sales team.
Step 5: Follow up the right way
Start with email from your own mailbox (auton8n sends to a tag one email per second) or a phone call, and ask whether they want to receive updates on WhatsApp. Meta requires opt-in for WhatsApp marketing messages, and sending templates to many people who never agreed can get your number limited. Once a lead opts in, send WhatsApp templates and let a chatbot qualify replies.
Is it legal to use Google Maps data for leads?
Using the official Places API follows Google's terms, unlike scraping Maps pages. Business phone numbers and emails are published by the businesses themselves, but your outreach still has to follow the law and platform rules: identify yourself, give people a way to opt out, and respect India's DND and data protection rules.
